$2,600,000 Fire Restoration Millers Mutual Insurance Company
On a brisk night in December, an unattended candle ignited a nearby aerosol spray can causing a dramatic explosion. The blaze was fueled by high winds and raced through the building causing catastrophic structural damage.
Approximately 140 firefighters from Prince George’s and Montgomery counties responded to the scene. The three-story condominium building in Beltsville, Maryland was so badly damaged that the top floor of the building was virtually gone and the destruction displaced dozens of residents.
Once the fire was extinguished, Minkoff Company moved to quickly stabilize the building and develop a long term recovery plan. Within weeks, Minkoff was able to commence full-scale reconstruction activities.
While the 15 most severely damaged units required long term reconstruction, Minkoff’s staged recovery plan allowed 6 of the lesser damages units to be reoccupied within 4 months of the fire. Eventually all units were successfully restored to new condition.
