$3,000,000 Fire Restoration
ITT Hartford

An extensive restoration by Minkoff Company has transformed Rosecroft Raceway into one of the most contemporary and comfortable horse racing facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. After a major fire swept through the rear section of the 4,000 seat grandstand, Minkoff was called in to perform emergency services. The “Amtote” room, the nerve center of the parimutuel betting computations, required immediate relocation from the grandstand to the clubhouse. The computerized electronic betting machines, a top priority, were back on line within days.

Minkoff constructed a temporary building which could hold 2,000 fans while reconstruction of the grandstand was underway. Racetrack owners decided to redesign the building and Minkoff worked closely with the architects and engineers. After the new steel structure was erected, new mechanical and electrical systems were installed, in addition to new sprinkler and fire alarm systems. The facility has been renamed the “Frederick R.Weisman Pavilion.”
